Our Career Mentoring programme has been delivered successfully for 10 years.
It is a mentoring programme for young people on Pupil Premium, and those identified as at risk of becoming ‘Not in Employment Education or Training’.
Mentees are matched with trained employee volunteers from our employer partners, and includes; developing employability skills, building confidence, CV writing and interview skills, setting career goals, and building vital social capital.
We work with a range of employer partners to co-deliver the programme, including GSK, SEGRO, Peabody Housing, Dell, Jacobs Engineering, Southwestern Rail, and Notting Hill Genesis, with investment from the National Lottery Community Fund, Drapers Charitable Trust, Inspire Hounslow, and the Greater London Authority.
Our volunteer mentors are recruited to the programme through our diverse network of employer partnerships and the local community. Mentors must commit to the whole programme.
The Youth Careers Collective team match mentors and mentees as closely as possible based on the below criteria:
All mentors are DBS checked and must attend mandatory safeguarding and mentoring training and must sign and comply with our safeguarding policies and volunteer code of conduct.
Our team are always on hand to support mentors with any concerns or help they need throughout the programme.
Whether you an employer, a school or college, a local council or third sector organisation, if you would like to find out more about working with us on our Career Mentoring Programme, please get in touch with our Director of Delivery, Georgia Ford – georgiaford@youthcareers.org.uk
